What Makes Art Great According to Personal Experience

Great art often stands out due to its ability to evoke emotion, convey a powerful message, or present a unique perspective. It is characterized by its technical skill, originality, and the way it connects with viewers on a personal level. Ultimately, what makes art great is its impact and the way it resonates with its audience.

Art as Expression

Art. My favorite definition of art is expression. To express your idea, your thought, your viewpoint, your story—to express yourself.

A good picture is one that tells a story, a good story is one that can be captured in a picture, this isn't mine; probably from a movie I watched several years back. A great art should tell a good story. A story of the process, a story that shows the journey, the mistakes, the time, and the dedication that shows it all.

Words give one a voice; however, many things are better expressed through art. In my opinion, art is the way to express and transform a blank sheet of paper into a beautiful creation. Art gives the power to create things according to one's imagination, coming from our thoughts and expressions. It brings immense happiness and can be a form of meditation when you paint, sketch, or engage in any form of art. You find creativity in even the smallest things, like a small piece of stone. For me, art is everything.

The Impact of Art

If after your experience with that art, you find yourself transformed in ways you don't understand but that make that experience live within you to assert itself throughout your life, then you have been fortunate to have experienced greatness. Technological and ideological superiority of one artist and his artworks over the rest are merely fleeting and do not make his art great in the broader context of human experience and emotion.

For me, art is great as long as it shows a person's creativity or feelings. I do enjoy seeing people show how they feel in art because it shows that they can turn their pain into something beautiful, even if it looks bad. It can show their past experiences and is a way for them to cope. It doesn’t always have to be vent art; it can also be a way to show excitement for something. No matter what, it’s really interesting seeing how people can turn their emotions into art.
