There was a time in my life when I made a decision I cannot publicly disclose. It was unexpected and maybe even accidental, but in the quiet moments that followed, I found peace. What I did just seemed right, despite the challenges and setbacks. Each choice came with a significant cost, and I faced numerous mistakes. Yet, in the end, I knew what I did was the right thing. This experience has taught me the value of trusting my instincts and learning from every situation.

Praying for a Mire-posable Love

My relationship with my mother was marred by abuse, and I grew up feeling unlovable. Desperate for a sense of affection, I turned to God in prayer, hoping for divine intervention. This was when my prayers, I believe, began to be answered. At the tender age of 15, I entered into a relationship that was toxic and abusive. From the clothes he tore me to the names he called me, my first love did not represent the love I longed for. When I found out I was pregnant at 16, the choices society offered seemed daunting.

People advised me to have an abortion, emphasizing the potential financial and personal struggles of motherhood. While they made sense, I couldn’t shake the feeling that I wanted to keep the baby. At 17, I gave birth to my daughter, a gift I received even if the journey leading to that moment was painful. She was (and remains) my inspiration and the embodiment of my resilience. I am certain that, through her, God had heard my prayers and sent me someone to love me.

My daughter saved me from myself. She showed me that despite all the mistakes I made, I did not define my worth through them. My daughter’s unbreakable love for me continues to affirm that I am enough. It is a love that allows me to do no wrong in her eyes, and she is the best byproduct of my journey. Though many may have warned me of the mistakes I was about to make, I see now that they were precisely the right ones. She is more than a choice; she is proof of my strength and the unconditional love that transcends all.
