Photorealism: An Artists Journey and Their Nicest Drawing
What is Your Nicest Photorealistic Drawing?
Creating photorealistic drawings requires a high level of precision and attention to detail. While I appreciate the compliment, every artwork I create holds its unique charm. If you're interested in exploring photorealistic drawings, I recommend visiting online art galleries or platforms like Instagram where artists often showcase their work. My Most Well-Received Drawing
This particular drawing was by far the one that received the most attention. Interestingly, I hadn’t spent nearly as much time on this as I did on some of my less realistic drawings. In fact, I usually paint, but I often create rough sketches before the painting process.
A Technical Approach to Art
I tend to avoid photorealistic drawings. Instead, I focus on painting, though I do create rough sketches before getting into the painting stage. My artwork is characterized by its technicality, mechanical precision, and modernity. Even though I briefly studied interior design at art school, I found it challenging to adapt to that lifestyle and moved on.
I hold a degree in Industrial Arts and have enjoyed a fulfilling career since then. My background in art and drafting has been instrumental in my success. At age 82, I still have the skills to build and design various things. Material reuse is also a significant part of my practice, and I've done pretty well over the years by repairing and rebuilding furniture. My background in woodworking was so unique that I was the only American to teach woodworking in Laos for four years as a pre-Peace Corps volunteer. This experience was both challenging and rewarding.
I ended up leaving the country in July of 1967, but during those years, I developed a highly impressive shop. I have over a hundred pictures documenting this period, which I have compiled into a CD. The project I undertook is truly a testament to my technical prowess and artistic skills.
Conclusion
While I may not focus on photorealism as a primary artistic style, my technical background and experience have greatly influenced my work. Whether it's in painting or crafting, precision and attention to detail are essential skills I've honed over the years.
