Workshop Participants: At my calligraphy workshops, I've had participants ranging from beginners to experienced artists. Some of these participants were left-handed. In one workshop, I had 14 participants, and 4 of them were left-handed. I had to adapt the nibs by cutting them to the inverse angle to accommodate their writing style. The biggest challenge for left-handed participants was finding a position that allowed them to write without pausing to let the ink dry on the paper.

Each of the three types of left-handed writing (below, above, or on the line) presents unique challenges. They developed at the same pace as our right-handed participants, and many of them continue to practice and show further improvement.

Private Lessons: I also provide private calligraphy lessons, and one of my left-handed students, who was in the UK, showed significant improvement after just a month of consistent practice over the weekends and irregular practice during the rest of the week. Now, she uses left-handed calligraphy as part of her professional work, doing hand-lettering for a living.
