Caught in the Circus: Living in a World of Clownish Politics
Have you ever lived in a clown world? It's a question that has long lingered in the minds of many. No, I haven't really lived in a clown world, but if I had to describe what it's like, I wouldn't have much to say. Let me tell you about some experiences that paint a picture of a circus-like environment I've witnessed firsthand.
The US Postal Circus
For many years, I worked for the United States Postal Service (USPS), and let me tell you, it's no wonder they should call it the US Postal Circus. Out of the 90 managers I've encountered during my tenure, a vast majority are nothing short of clowns. One particular individual in Washington stands out among them. This individual is so overweight that you can imagine the kind of physical comedy they must pull off. However, there is a stark difference between these managers and real circus clowns - their jokes are never funny.
The problems don't stop there. Tragically, people have died because of their foolishness. And when the system collapses, which is all but inevitable, the managers will be the first to laugh. They'll revel in the chaos and dismiss their own roles in contributing to the collapse. It's a troubling reality, and it's a perspective that reveals the true absurdity of such a circus-like environment.
A Clown Named Donald J. Trump
When I say that the circus-like atmosphere extends beyond the USPS, I need to mention the elephant in the room. A dangerous clown, and his name is Donald J. Trump. Trump's presidency has been a spectacle of chaos, destruction, and a disregard for the fundamental principles of the US Constitution. He has systematically tried to dismantle and damage the very foundations that make America great, including the Constitution and the rule of law.
While some Republicans may favor him, the reality is that Trump has faced a multitude of legal challenges. He has been referred to as 'the most sued human on the planet.' A relentless litany of lawsuits has kept him in the courts and in the headlines. This doesn't seem to bother him, as he seems to revel in the attention and the media circus around him. His behavior and actions have contributed significantly to the circus-like atmosphere in American politics.
Moreover, our allies around the world have not only distanced themselves but openly despise him. They see the chaos he brings not only to America but to the world stage. The damage he has done to the international reputation of the United States has been significant and far-reaching.
The Jokes Just Aren't Funny
While I have been living in this clown world since the day I was born, the jokes are not funny. In reality, it's a dire situation where the most significant impact on people's lives is often the result of these clownish antics. People lose jobs, families are torn apart, and lives are lost due to the foolishness and misconduct of those in power.
It's a harsh reality that many of us have come to terms with, a reality that is not confined to the borders of America. The world at large watches on with a mix of amusement and dismay, as these political and social circus performances play out. The question is no longer whether we are living in a clown world but how long can we continue to deal with it effectively and with dignity.
Amidst all this chaos, one can only wonder when the real clowns will take back their props and allow us to return to a world where laughter is a result of genuine joy rather than a cover-up for dysfunction and injustice.
