Artistic Pursuits: An Overview of My Creative Week

Artistic expression is not just a hobby or a profession for me; it's an integral part of my daily life. This article delves into my weekly creative activities, providing insight into my artistic journey.

Daily Rituals and Practices

My days start with a blend of practices that prepare me mentally and emotionally for the creative journey ahead. Each morning, I begin with Transcendental Meditation-visualization, a powerful technique that helps me clear my mind and focus my intentions. Following this, I dive into experiments with oil colors, meticulously mixing and experimenting with pigments. This process often involves considerable reading and research to discover new techniques and colors.

To assist my creative flow, I also make sketches as a warm-up exercise. This helps me visualize my ideas and sets the stage for more detailed work. Once everything feels alight, I proceed to create my artworks. This process is both grounding and exhilarating, allowing me to express my emotions and ideas through visual art.

Instrumental Performances and Studio Work

Musical expression is another facet of my creative life. I practice on two saxophones: a tenor sax and an alto sax. My days are often punctuated by visits to my Studio Workshop, where I create abstract paintings. I also engage in sculpting with plastic pipes, polystyrene balls, and inventive wood pieces, all aimed at pushing the boundaries of form and color.

Currently, I am working on the final movement of a multifaceted musical composition, which includes a piece for a five-string E violin, a viola, a cello, synthesizer, and piano, with a pre-recorded electronic track as a base. If I can secure a commitment from a leading orchestra, I plan to orchestrate it. Additionally, I'm writing a simple rock song for a family of young girls, purely for fun and enjoyment.

In preparation for a concert later this summer, I am practicing Beethoven's Kreutzer Sonata. I also keep in touch with the art, theater, and concert reviews in the Wall Street Journal, staying informed and inspired.

Engaging with Artistic Communities

More than just a solo endeavor, my art is also a means of engaging with the broader community. I make it a point to visit galleries and museums regularly to observe and absorb new artworks. This helps me gather ideas and refine my creative vision. I often return to my studio with new inspirations, sometimes to write or conceptualize new work, and other times to translate my thoughts into visible art.

Beyond the physical studio, I use digital platforms to showcase my work. I create and post daily content on my Facebook and Instagram pages, and I maintain an Etsy shop to sell my artworks. I also have art on display in an ongoing exhibition, offering viewers a glimpse into my creative process. My website is another platform where I keep my audience updated, conducting research and taking part in seminars and mini courses to enhance my skills and knowledge.

For me, creativity is not just a skill; it's a habit. Just like any other muscle, it can atrophy if not regularly exercised. I value my artistic pursuits deeply and find great fulfillment in both the solitary and collaborative aspects of my work. Through these practices, I continue to evolve and discover new dimensions of my artistic expression.
