A Journey of Photography: From Casual Hobby to Passionate Pursuit

As a hobbyist photographer, I have had the pleasure of capturing some of life's most memorable moments with my camera. This journey has been both challenging and rewarding, pushing me to improve my skills and refine my techniques. Here, I will share some of my favorite photos, along with my experiences and insights, to inspire fellow enthusiasts on their own photography journey.

Technical Shots and Photogenic Moments

Photography is more than just taking pictures; it's about planning, anticipation, and execution. Take, for instance, the accidental yet great Bike Hike photo. It was captured using my kit lens—Sony 16–50mm f/3.5–5.6 paired with an A5100. The image might not have been intentional, but it turned out to be a good example of the capabilities of the lens at that time.

The similarly serendipitous Chess Master photo was taken during my very first weeks of photography. I was in auto mode, shooting everything I could see, all with that same kit lens. It's amazing how passion overrides the importance of technical settings.

The Illusionist: A Well-Planned Shot

On the other end of the spectrum is the The Illusionist. This photo was a carefully planned shot, executed with experience and precision. I studied the camera basics, had the necessary equipment, and the isolation of being at home provided me with the luxury of time. The 50 mm / f/1.8 Sony FE lens brought out the stunning details in the mask I had purchased specifically for the shot.

The Wanderer: Impromptu Candid Moments

The Wanderer is yet another candid shot that showcases the spontaneity of photography. I was simply capturing a moment, and luck had it that the timing was impeccable. The kit lens 16–50 A5100 captured the essence of the scene, even though post-processing was necessary to remove a distracting tree branch.

Edited Creativity: Model Photos

The Apocalypse and Put it on its place are two examples of heavily edited photos. The first one is a prime example of my first Photoshop experiment. I imagined crows flying around the structure, a detail that unfortunately was not present in reality. Post-processing, in this case, transformed the mundane into something visually stunning.

The second photo, Put it on its place, is one of my few unedited photos. I liked it the way it was, and a small crop adjustment in post-processing was the only enhancement necessary.
